Henry Ford Community College is a fully accredited institution of higher learning. It has a student body of about 21,300 students and has a fulltime faculty of approximately 200. The college offers associate degree programs in 41 subjects and non-degree programs in 17 additional subject areas. The campus has 14 buildings with approximate 750,000 square feet of floor space. The school is particularly strong in the physical sciences, health care and liberal arts.

Profile

Ms. Kalbfleisch-Lazell is responsible for managing Michigan’s Region 25 Tech Prep financial grants for 45 local school districts and 3 community colleges. In this capacity, she interfaces with federal and state governments as well as various private foundations. Her charter includes writing grant proposals, coordinating the activities of the grant and managing the grant process through it successful conclusion.

In addition to securing funding for various programs, Mrs. Kalbfleisch-Lazell is responsible for multiple programs that facilitate coordination and interaction of high school and community college students and their educators. The intent of these programs is to help provide a seamless growth transition from high school to college and ultimately to careers. These successful programs currently involve all 11th and 12th graders and community college students in the Tech Prep consortium of schools.

Prior to joining Henry Ford Community College, Mrs. Kalbfleisch-Lazell was an admissions officer for two universities. In these capacities she established admission offices, created recruiting and training programs. She also counseled students, and their parents. Before entering education, Mrs. Kalbfleisch-Lazell was a television news producer supervising and managing a half-hour news program.

Mrs. Kalbfleisch-Lazell holds a master’s degree in Career and Technical Education with a specialty in training. She also earned bachelors degree with a double major in Broadcast and Cinematic Arts and Political science.
